Cajón Wally originates from the boxes used in film and advertising, known as apple boxes, versatile elements that can serve during shoots as support, seat, or step depending on the side on which they are placed.

Cajón Wally recovers that logic and transfers it to a domestic context, offering a piece with three usable heights (25, 35, and 45 cm) that make it a side table, footrest, or stool. Three of its sides also incorporate a circular hole that allows for easy transport and enables it to be used as a small container, as well as aesthetically connect with the rest of the collection.

“When I first saw this piece, I thought it already existed, that I had seen it before. I looked for where to buy it, and then Marc clarified that he had designed it for himself and that it had ended up as a unique piece exhibited in a gallery in Mexico. He explained that its shape and lunar white finish were inspired by the first spacecraft that landed on the moon. In a way, he was trying to speak of his origins as a child and the space fantasy of that age. And this is Marc's gift: making very personal designs that are, at the same time, archetypal. That is why we naturalize his pieces at first sight,” relates Esther Castaño-López from Sancal.

The Palma armchair was born from the evolution of a previous design made entirely of metal. While maintaining the raw gesture of the original design, the piece transforms into a more approachable object, where the somewhat aggressive expression of the initial material is softened to inhabit the home and other spaces.

The cushion appears almost as if it had fallen from the ceiling. They are two generous volumes that fit into the structure without hiding it completely. The piece transitions from austerity to generosity.

Foundawtion is a non-profit organization that carries out vernacular projects to address architectural needs in economically disadvantaged areas. CEM Kamanar, led by the Daw Office architecture studio, is the first project of this foundation: a school for more than 500 high school students in Thionck Essyl, a village in the Casamance area, south of Senegal.

This manual is a project in collaboration with Bendita Gloria for the foundation. More than the result of the work done, these pages contain everything that was necessary for the manufacture of the furniture collection designed for the CEM Kamanar school.

A collection that has sought the most optimal relationship between efficiency and comfort, prioritizing making things as easy as possible for each stage of the process: from design, material selection, construction, and/or maintenance.

Throughout the design and manufacturing period of all the furniture, workshops and related projects were carried out to raise funds and promote the project.

A good example is L'Art de Construir, a workshop organized by Ester Rovira and in collaboration with Claudia Valsells. During a week and with a group of more than 20 children, more than 30 chairs from the collection were manufactured and painted.
